Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?
Future Is More Now: Embracing the Life Ahead

As we step into each day, the notion of time becomes a fascinating spectrum. The past holds our stories, the present our actions, and the future our possibilities. For me, the future isn’t just a destination—it’s a canvas waiting to be painted with intentionality, growth, and purpose. While the past shapes us and gives us roots, I’ve realized I’d rather spend my energy embracing the future. Here’s why.
The Past: Lessons, Not a Home
Our histories are invaluable. They’re the chapters that taught us resilience, showed us love, and helped us navigate loss. My own journey—from the days at Adisadel College to later experiences at Mercer Community College—has been rich with learning. Yet, dwelling on the past can anchor us, pulling us into nostalgia or regret.
While I cherish the memories and lessons of the past, I don’t live there anymore. Time has taught me that the real power lies in moving forward, focusing on what’s to come, rather than what’s already been written.
The Future: A Place of Infinite Possibility
The future excites me because it’s limitless. Every moment ahead offers a chance to reinvent myself, pursue dreams, and impact the world around me. It’s where my hopes lie, where growth occurs, and where I get a chance to create a legacy.
I often think about how time spent imagining the future helps me prioritize what truly matters. Whether it’s developing my skills, building meaningful relationships, or enjoying activities like basketball (a personal favorite), focusing on what’s next keeps me aligned with my goals.
Future–Minded Living: How I’m Shaping My Time
To embrace the future fully, I’ve committed to a few key practices:
1. Daily Progress: Writing every day has become more than a habit—it’s a way of marking progress. My current streak reminds me that consistency in small actions builds the bigger picture.
2. Rest and Recharge: Prioritizing rest gives me the energy to tackle what lies ahead. Rest is no longer a pause but a part of the process.
3. Setting Intentions: I’ve started to approach each day with purpose, asking myself how today’s efforts can shape tomorrow.
4. Learning and Growth: Education, both formal and informal, continues to fuel my future. Looking back at my academic journey, I’m inspired to remain curious and open-minded about what I can learn next.
Why the Future Is More “Now“
In a world that often glorifies past achievements or anchors us in the present moment
Until next time…
