This is quiet courage — not loud wins, but grace that kept walking through grief. Your words remind us that…

What never gets done on my “to do” list

Something on your “to-do list” that never gets done.

The To-Do List That Never Gets Done: My Dinosaur Museum Dilemma

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a running to-do list. Some tasks get checked off quickly, others linger for weeks, and then there are the ones that seem to stay on my list forever. At the top of that never-ending category? Visiting the New Jersey dinosaur museum.

I don’t know exactly when I first added it to my list, but it’s been there for a while. As someone who grew up fascinated by dinosaurs—watching Jurassic Park on repeat and memorizing the names of prehistoric creatures—I figured a visit to a museum dedicated to these ancient giants would be a no-brainer. But life always seems to get in the way.

The Cycle of Procrastination

It starts with good intentions. I think, This weekend, I’ll finally go. Then the weekend comes, and suddenly, there’s something else to do—errands, basketball, catching up on rest, or just the general laziness that creeps in when faced with planning an outing. I tell myself, Next weekend for sure. Rinse and repeat.

At this point, visiting the dinosaur museum has become more of an inside joke with myself than an actual plan. It’s the thing I keep meaning to do but never quite get around to. It’s not even far—I live near New Jersey, so there’s really no excuse. Yet, here I am, still talking about going instead of actually going.

Why This Needs to Change

I know that breaking this cycle requires one simple action: actually picking a day and sticking to it. No more “maybe next week.” I need to put it on my calendar, commit, and go.

I also remind myself why I wanted to visit in the first place. Seeing life-sized dinosaur skeletons, learning about the creatures that once roamed the earth, and tapping into that childhood curiosity sounds amazing. And honestly, if I keep putting it off, I might never go—and that would be a shame.

Time to Make It Happen

So, here’s my challenge to myself: I will visit the New Jersey dinosaur museum within the next year. No excuses. I’ll even document the experience, take photos, and maybe even write a follow-up post about it.

If you also have a never-ending to-do list item that you keep pushing off, maybe it’s time to tackle it too. Let’s stop procrastinating and start experiencing.

Now, let me go put this trip on my calendar—before I find another excuse to push it off again.
