Do you need a break? From what?
Why I Cherish Deep Sleep: A Break from Myself

Life is a constant interaction—between myself and others, and within myself. Every day, I navigate conversations, expectations, responsibilities, and emotions. Whether I’m dealing with people or managing my own thoughts, it takes energy. And at the end of it all, I don’t just need a break from the world—I need a break from myself.
That’s why I cherish deep sleep.
The Weight of Engagement
Interacting with others is inevitable. Whether it’s socializing, working, or simply existing in a shared space, human connection demands attention and effort. Some days, conversations flow easily; other days, they drain me. Even the most enjoyable exchanges require energy because being present means listening, responding, and adapting.

Then, there’s the internal dialogue—the never-ending stream of thoughts, reflections, self-criticisms, and plans. My mind is always processing, analyzing, and sometimes overthinking. Even when I’m alone, I’m not truly alone because my thoughts keep me company. That’s why, by the time night falls, I don’t just crave sleep—I need it.
Deep Sleep: The Ultimate Escape
Deep sleep is the one time I can fully disconnect. It’s the only true pause button on life, where I don’t have to engage with others or myself. Unlike resting while awake—where my mind still hums in the background—deep sleep offers an escape. No thoughts. No worries. No responsibilities. Just stillness.
That’s why I prioritize it. When I sleep deeply, I wake up lighter, as if I’ve reset my entire system. My body feels rested, and my mind is clearer. It’s not just about physical recovery; it’s about mental and emotional relief.
Guarding My Sleep Like a Treasure
Because deep sleep is my sanctuary, I protect it. I ensure I get enough rest so that I can handle the next day’s interactions—both external and internal. Whether that means avoiding screens before bed, playing basketball to tire myself out, or embracing moments of calm before sleeping, I do what it takes.
At the end of each day, I look forward to that moment when my mind lets go. When the world fades away. When I take a break from myself.
That’s why I cherish deep sleep.
