This is quiet courage — not loud wins, but grace that kept walking through grief. Your words remind us that…

A positive thing a family member did for me

The Gift of Energy Awareness: A Lesson from Family

One of the most transformative things a family member has ever done for me wasn’t something grand or loud—it was subtle, insightful, and deeply impactful. They helped me realize how I share my energy, and more importantly, how I need to manage it.

I used to think that being available to everyone all the time was a sign of love and strength. I’d say yes when I was tired, show up when I needed rest, and pour myself into conversations even when I felt drained. I thought being “there” meant being everything—until I found myself burnt out, confused about why I was always running on empty.

It was during one of those low moments that this family member said something simple but piercing: “You have great energy, but you don’t always protect it.”

That stuck with me. For the first time, I became curious about where my energy was going, who was receiving it, and whether I was leaving any of it for myself. They didn’t try to fix me or hand me a manual. They just helped me hold up a mirror. I saw the habits, the leaks, the expectations I never questioned.

Since then, I’ve been more intentional. I still love deeply, still give my time and presence, but now I make sure I check in with myself first. I learned to say no without guilt. I learned that rest isn’t selfish. I learned that my energy isn’t infinite—but when I manage it well, it feels powerful, healing, and whole.

That one insight changed the way I live, work, and love. And it all started with the quiet wisdom of someone who saw me clearly.

If you’ve ever had someone do something for you that helped you better understand yourself, then you know—it’s a gift that keeps on giving.

Until next time…
