This is quiet courage — not loud wins, but grace that kept walking through grief. Your words remind us that…

The One Rubber Band I Hold Dear

There’s a single rubber band I keep with me like a sacred thread. It might look ordinary to anyone else—But for me, it’s a quiet companion, a part of my daily ritual, and a subtle reminder of consistency and care.

It’s the only rubber band I use for my hair.

Not because I don’t have access to more. I do. Packs of them sit in drawers or get left behind in bags. But this one? It stayed. It never snapped on me. It’s never pulled too tightly or let me down mid-day. It’s been with me on rushed mornings, lazy afternoons, sweaty basketball games, and even writing sessions when I needed my hair out of the way but my thoughts flowing free.

Sometimes, you find meaning in the small, unlikely things. This rubber band reminds me of how something simple can be reliable. It doesn’t boast, it just holds things together—literally. And when I wrap it around my hair, there’s a small comfort in that quiet act. Like a nod to my routine, to the days I’ve held it all together too.
So yeah, it’s just a rubber band. But in a world full of moving pieces, I hold onto it because it holds onto me right back.

And when it finally gives out—because everything does—I know it’ll have earned its rest. Until then, it stays with me. Quiet, dependable, essential.
