What would you do if you lost all your possessions?
If I Lost Everything, I’d Look for a Pen and Paper
If I lost all my possessions today—everything gone, from my clothes to my phone—I think my first instinct wouldn’t be panic. It would be silence. The kind of silence that humbles me enough to realize what really stays with me when things don’t.
Then I’d look for a pen and a piece of paper. Not a phone, not even food at first—just something to write with and on. I’d sit somewhere and write down what I can remember as at now: people who matter, numbers and lessons that stuck, places that shaped me, and things I’ve learned to do without.
The act—of writing from memory—would be like building from ashes. The pen becomes proof that my thoughts are still intact, my story still in progress. I’d write until the paper ran out. Because in the moment, memory becomes wealth.
And the next simple thing I’d do?
I’d find one small object that feels like mine again— a phone , a blanket , some food—and take care of it. Not just for what it is, but for what it represents: starting over doesn’t require everything, just something.

Until next time.
