This is quiet courage — not loud wins, but grace that kept walking through grief. Your words remind us that…

city Place

What is your favorite place to go in your city?

my Go-To Place in the City: The Pier

There’s a spot in the city that always pulls me in no matter how fast life is moving—the Pier.Maybe it’s the openness, maybe it’s the water, or maybe it’s that mix of calm and quiet excitement that only a pier can hold. Whatever it is, it feels like a reset button.

The first thing that catches me every time is the cool breeze sliding across the walkway. It’s not just refreshing—it feels like the city is exhaling. Right beside it are the boat rides, gliding in and out like they’re telling their own stories. Recently I stood there and just watched them cut through the water, imagining where each one is headed and what moments are happening on board.

Then there’s the walkway itself—long enough for a full mind sweep. I love watching the flow of people. Some come to eat, drifting in with their friends or families, laughing and deciding which spot has the best view. Others are tourists, camera-ready, soaking everything in as if the Pier is an attraction they stumbled upon but will remember forever. And then there are people like me—just there for the atmosphere, the breeze, the thought space.

The Pier is one of the few places in the city where people with totally different reasons for being there still share the same moment. Everyone walks at their own pace—different backgrounds, different days, different goals—but at the Pier, for a few minutes, we’re all being held by the same stretch of boards and the same ocean air. It’s like a crossroads that doesn’t feel like one. Nobody is rushing to beat time; everyone is just existing beside each other.

Maybe that’s why I love it so much. It reminds me that in life sometimes time disappears. Sometimes the best part is just the walk, the wind, the water, and the people passing by—proof that we’re all moving, all living, all finding our small pockets of peace.

The Pier is my city place. My reminder even in the busiest place around.

Until next time.
