This is quiet courage — not loud wins, but grace that kept walking through grief. Your words remind us that…

My favorite Meal to cook

What’s your favorite thing to cook?

My Love for Cooking Fufu and Soup

Cooking is an art, a cultural expression, and a personal joy. For me, my favorite dish to prepare is fufu and soup. This traditional West African meal, rich in flavor and history, brings me a deep sense of comfort and satisfaction. Whether it’s a steaming bowl of light soup, groundnut soup, or palm nut soup, the process of making fufu and soup is a ritual that connects me to my roots and fills my home with warmth.

The Joy of Making Fufu

Fufu is a starchy side dish, typically made from boiled cassava and plantains, or sometimes yam, pounded into a smooth, stretchy consistency. These days, modern tools like fufu machines or instant fufu powder make the process easier, but there’s something special about the traditional method. The rhythmic pounding, the teamwork involved, and the transformation of simple ingredients into something so delicious never gets old.

For me, the best part about making fufu is the satisfaction of getting the texture just rightsoft, stretchy, and smooth enough to swallow effortlessly with soup. It’s a skill that requires patience, but the reward is always worth it.

The Heartwarming Comfort of Soup

No fufu  is complete without a rich and flavorful soup. I love experimenting with different types of soups, but my go-to favorites are light soup, groundnut soup, and palm nut soup. Each has its unique taste and depth of flavor.

Light soup is a simple yet delicious broth made with fresh tomatoes, peppers, onions, and a choice of meat or fish. It has a soothing, slightly spicy taste that makes it perfect for a cold day.

Groundnut soup is thick and creamy, made with blended peanuts, tomatoes, and spices. It has a nutty richness that pairs beautifully with fufu.

Palm nut  soup is my favorite,a bold, earthy dish made from palm fruit extract, giving it a deep red color and a distinctively rich taste.

The best part of cooking soup is watching all the ingredients come together, filling my kitchen with irresistible aromas. I enjoy adjusting the spices, choosing the right protein (beef, chicken, goat, or fish), and letting the soup simmer until it reaches perfection.

Why Fufu and Soup is My Favorite

Cooking fufu and soup is more than just making a meal—it’s an experience. It brings me back to cherished memories of family gatherings, Sunday afternoons filled with laughter, and the comfort of home-cooked food. It’s a dish that requires care and effort, but the result is always rewarding.

Every time I cook fufu and soup, I feel a sense of pride in preserving this culinary tradition. No matter where I am, making this dish keeps me connected to my heritage and allows me to share a taste of my culture with others.

If you’ve never tried making fufu and soup before, I highly recommend giving it a shot. The process may take some time, but the flavors and experience are unforgettable!

Until next time….
