Growing

When I was younger, one thing I worried about was my height. At 5’3″, I sometimes wondered if being taller would make life easier or if people would take me more seriously. Like many people, I compared myself to others and focused on something I couldn’t change.

As I got older, something interesting happened—I stopped thinking about it.

Instead of seeing my height as a disadvantage, I realized it came with an unexpected benefit. People often assume I’m younger than I actually am. What once felt like something to worry about became something I barely noticed anymore.

Age has a way of changing what matters. The things that once seemed so important slowly lose their grip on you. You begin to appreciate who you are instead of wishing you were someone else.

Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t spend my whole life worrying about my height. It taught me that confidence doesn’t come from changing yourself. It comes from accepting yourself and realizing that many of the things we stress over today won’t even cross our minds years from now.

Sometimes growing up isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about finally becoming comfortable, with the person you’ve been all along.
