Looking Forward, While Remembering One Perfect Day

I have always looked forward to the future more than the past. For me, the future represents possibility. There are still experiences I have not had, places I have not seen, and moments I have not lived. I like the idea that something special could still be waiting for me.

That does not mean I don’t appreciate the past. There are certain memories that I would happily experience again, and if I could relive just one day, it would be the day I went on a cruise from New Brunswick to Perth Amboy.

It was one of those days when everything seemed to come together. There was a great buffet on board, music playing, drinks, and plenty of time to simply enjoy myself. I remember having a genuinely great time without needing to think too much about anything else.

What makes that day special is not necessarily that something extraordinary happened. It was simply a great experience that I enjoyed while I was in it. Sometimes those are the memories that stay with us the longest.

I would still choose the future over the past because I believe there is more ahead of me to experience. But if I were given the chance to press rewind for one day, I would gladly return to that cruise, enjoy the buffet, listen to the music, have a drink, and experience that feeling all over again.
