Tell me about a time when you felt out of place.
Feeling Out of Place in a New Area
I recently moved to a new area, and let me tell you—it’s not as smooth as it looks on paper. Suddenly, I had to figure out where everything was: the grocery store, the post office, a spot to grab food, even where to just take a walk. It’s a strange feeling when your everyday essentials aren’t right at your fingertips anymore.
At first, I felt out of place. Almost like I was a visitor instead of someone who actually lives here. But little by little, I started to notice things—the busiest street corners, the café that always seems full, the quiet bench that nobody really uses.

Whenever I feel out of place, I pick one landmark. A small store, a tree, or even a bench on the sidewalk. Once I do that, it gives me a sense of belonging, like I’ve planted a little flag that says, this is part of my world now.
The truth is, feeling out of place isn’t the end of the story—It’s a step to building a map.
Navigating everyday life in a real, simple way.
Until next time.
